ALLAH (S.W.T.) guided us through the Holy book Quran which contains solutions to all our worries and difficulties. La ilaha illa anta subha naka inni kuntu minaz-zalimin is one of the powerful Duas from the Quran, also known as Ayat e Karima. This ayah is mentioned in Surah Anbiya, ayah number 87.

La ilaha illa anta subhanaka inni kuntu minaz-zalimin- There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers.

This powerful dua made Prophet Yunus alaihissalm escape when he was stuck inside the belly of a big whale fish.
Ayat e Karima also known as Prophet Yunus Dua

As we know from the story of Prophet Yunus alaihissalam wherein, He got disheartened by seeing the ignorance of his people and he gave up on them. Without the permission of Allah, Prophet Yunus alaihissalam decided to leave the city of Nineveh in hopes of finding a community far away that would accept him and enter the fold of Islam. And later in the ship, He was thrown out of the ship by the will of ALLAH SWT and a fish gulped him. He was there in the belly of the fish for 40 days, praying and weeping enormously and asking for forgiveness from ALLAH SWT. He used to recite this verse and finally ALLAH SWT accepted his repentance and freed him from his punishment.

This is how powerful this Ayat e Karima is.

Ibrahim bin Muhammad bin Saad narrated from his father, Saad that the Messenger of Allah said:

“The supplication of Dhun-Nun (Prophet Yunus) when he supplicated, while in the belly of the whale was: ‘There is none worthy of worship except You, Glory to You, Indeed, I have been of the transgressors.La ilaha illa anta subḥanaka inni kuntu minaz-zalimin So indeed, no Muslim man supplicates with it for anything, ever, except Allah responds to him.”(Tirmidhi 3505).

This is the supplication through which Yunus AS called Allah from within three darkness. This is as under La ilaha illa anta, Subhanaka, Inni kuntu minaz-zalimin (There is no god but You, You are far exalted and above all weaknesses, and I was indeed the wrongdoer). A man asked: O RasulAllah, Is this dua special for Yunus AS or for all the believers? Prophet SAW said: Have you not heard the words of Allah (in the Quran):” And We delivered Yunus(AS) of his distress, thus We grant deliverance to all believers[Quran]”.
