Laylat-ul Qadr (The Night of Power) is narreted in the Quran as it is better than a thousand months (Surah Al-Qadr 97: ayah 3). This is the special night Among the nights of Ramadan. Good deeds performed on that single night are equal to those performed over a thousand months. In this night (27th of Ramadan) The Holy Qur’an was sent down from the Preserved Tablet (LOH-E-MEHFOOZ) to the earth. Prophet Muhammad Rasul-Allah (peace be upon him) Said that search Shab-e-Qadr in the odd numbered nights in the last ten days of Ramadan (Bukhari). 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th or 29th night of ramadan could be Shab-e-Qadr.
In a hadith related by Abu Hurairah Radiallahu Anhu, Rasulullah said “He who spends the night in prayer in the Laylat-ul Qadr, as a sign of His faith, and seeking rewards from Allah, his previous sins will be forgiven.” (Bukhari and Muslim)
Hazrat Aisha Radiallah Anha stated that as much Prophet Muhammad Rasul-Allah (peace be upon him) tried Ibadat in the last Ashra (ten days) of Ramadan, did not try in any of the Ashra. (Muslim)
Hazrat Aisha Radiallah Anha stated that I asked Prophet Muhammad Rasul-Allah (peace be upon him), “If I find Lailatul Qadar then what should I do? Prophet Muhammad Rasul-Allah (peace be upon him) said, recite this Dua.”ALLAH HUMMA INNAKA A’FUVUN TOHIB BUL AFVA FA’AFU ANNI” (Tirmidhi)
In this Night We Should perform Sunnah prayers or Tahajjud, Recite Al-Qur’an, Salawat (Darood Sharif & Salaam) and make Dua’as.
Special Dua of Laylat-ul Qadr is “ALLAH HUMMA INNAKA A’FUVUN TOHIB BUL AFVA FA’AFU ANNI”.
Itikaf was a practice of the Prophet Muhammad Rasul-Allah (peace be upon him) to spend the last ten days and nights of Ramadan in the masjid for Itikaf.
Stay in the masjid all Itikaf time, perform various forms of zikr (the remembrance of Allah), do extra Salat, recite and study of the Quran. don’t go outside the masjid except in case of emergencies and sleep in the masjid.
Itikaf of a shorter period of time, like one night, a day or a couple of days is encouraged as well.
